How we work
Every article on this site is picked, researched, written and published by a person. AI tools help with research, citation-checking and drafting, but a person decides what to cover, verifies every source, and signs off on the piece before it goes live. Each article goes through several separate rounds of research and fact-checking before that happens.
Sourcing
Claims link to primary literature: the study, the government fact sheet, the original record. Where a figure has a real range in the source, we publish the range rather than the convenient end of it.
If a claim can't be sourced, it doesn't run.
Fact-checking
Every draft is checked against its sources as its own separate pass, claim by claim, more than once before anything is published. That process routinely catches errors, including claims stated more confidently than the underlying paper supports. Anything it catches gets corrected before publication, and if we find something wrong after publication, we correct it on the page.
Handling contested evidence
Nutrition research is observational more often than not, and observational findings get over-read in both directions. Our standard: report the effect size and the confidence interval, not just the direction. Say what the study adjusted for and what survived adjustment. Quote the authors' own caveats. Where two credible studies disagree, present both.
Corrections
Articles are dated when reviewed. Substantive corrections are made visibly on the page, with a note of when the correction happened.
